Police and prisoners clash in Welikada 
 Tear gas was fired to control the unrest by inmates at the Welikada Prison during a special search operation carried out by Police Special Task Force (STF) today (09).

The Prison intelligence unit and the STF were engaged in a search of the L ward and Chapel ward.

Several mobile phones, drugsa and banned items were discovered during the operation carried out with prison officers, and Special Task Force.

After the completion of the search, inmates had  then pelted stones at the officers which resulted in a tense situation.

Teargas was fired in order to bring  the situation under control.

රැඳවියෝ හා පොලිසිය අතර ගැටුමකට කඳුළු ගෑස්

වැලිකඩ බන්ධනාගාරයේ රැඳවියන් හා බන්ධනාගාර බුද්ධිඅංශයත්, විශේෂ කාර්ය බලකායත් අතර ඇතිවූ ගැටුමක් පාලනය කිරීමට කඳුළු ගෑස් ප‍්‍රහාරයක් එල්ලකර ඇතැයි වාර්තා වේ.

අද (09) පස්වරු 2.00 ට පමණ මෙම ගැටුම ඇතිවී තිබේ.

බන්ධනාගාර බුද්ධිඅංශයත්, විශේෂ කාර්ය බලකායත් එක්ව එම බන්ධනාගාරයේ එල් වාට්ටුව හා චැපල් වාට්ටුව යන ප‍්‍රදේශ සෝදිසියකට ලක්කර ඇත.

එම මෙහෙයුමේදී ජංගම දුරකථන, මත්ද‍්‍රව්‍ය ඇතුළු තහනම් භණ්ඩ තොගයක් සොයාගෙන තිබේ.

ඊට විරෝධය දක්වා එම ප‍්‍රදේශවල රඳවා සිටින රැඳවියෝ බන්ධනාගාර බුද්ධිඅංශය හා විශේෂ කාර්ය බලකා සෙබලුන්ට ගල්මුල් ප‍්‍රහාරයක් එල්ල කිරීම නිසා අදාළ ගැටුම හටගෙන ඇත.

ගැටුමෙන්  තුවාල ලැබූ 13 දෙනෙකු මේ වන විට කොළඹ ජාතික රෝහලට ඇතුළත් කර ඇත.
